About Us
A short bit of info about the society
TermiSoc is the University of Plymouth Computing Society. We have been established since around 1994 and offer a range of faclities to our members - see our Services page for details.
What we do
We run weekly tutorials in the Babbage Building on a wide range of computing subjects. Previous tutorials have included introductions to HTML and PHP programming, 3D Modelling, Game Design, Computer Building and alternative operating systems (as in, not Windows). Check out our calendar for upcoming events.
As well as that, we have many, many socials, from trips down the pub, to bowling, to pool competitions at Rileys, as well as regular expeditons to the cinema and not-so-regular expeditions to, say, London. Again, check out the calendar for upcoming events - this term we've got a cinema trip planned every Wednesday as well as other socials planned for Thursdays and the usual trip to the Union after the tutorials. Come along - you won't regret it, and there may be pizza.
We hold the occasional special event, including LAN parties (that's 3D shooty games to non-techies); we also try and organise groups to visit trade shows and expos, such as the Linux World expo and the London Perl Workshop.
We also have links with the Devon and Cornwall LUG, and attend various events organised them (for example the ever-popular annual barbecue), and our ex-members provide a wide support base to our members. Do not ask us about the Exeter 2600, we know nothing of its existence and strongly deny any connection with it...
